DuPont Fayetteville Works was honored with a 2004 Employment Security Commission (ESC) Employer Award at a May 6 luncheon held at the Coharie Country Club in Clinton.

ESC Chairman Harry E. Payne Jr. presented the award to DuPont's Human Resource Director Barbara Knight, one of 18 employers to receive awards in the southeastern region of North Carolina. A total of 95 employers were presented awards at ceremonies held in different regions of the state.

Criteria for the award include exceptional contributions to the North Carolina economy through new business, business expansion, business innovation, and community involvement, as well as partnership with ESC and its local workforce development associates.

"It is important to recognize the employers who have contributed positively to the state's economy particularly those who are hiring and creating jobs," said Payne. "This is an opportunity to express our gratitude for supporting their communities and the goals of the Employment Security Commission."

ESC Employers were first given in 1987. The winners are selected by local and regional ESC management staff. This is the first year that the award ceremonies were held on a regional level.
