TAR HEEL - Lily Patterson Fields, 80, of 1157 Munn Lane, Tar Heel, died Thursday, June 10, at Rockingham Manor in Rockingham.
Mrs. Fields was a violinist and a seamstress. She was also a volunteer with the Tar Heel Rescue Squad and Fire Department. She was a member of Purdie United Methodist Church in Tar Heel.
The funeral was held Monday, June 14, at 11 a.m. in Purdie United Methodist Church with Reverend Clint Scott and Reverend Tommy Haynes officiating. Burial followed at Purdie United Methodist Church Cemetery.
She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn McDonald of Rockingham and Elizabeth Griffin of Red Springs; three sons, Harry Fields and Roy Fields, both of Tar Heel, and David Fields of Chesapeake, Virginia; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Purdie United Methodist Church, Tar Heel, NC 28392 or Scotland County Hospice Alzheimer Group, P.O. Box 1133, Laurinburg, NC 28352.
St. Pauls Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
