Justin W. Butler of Bladenboro received his Eagle Scout Award in a ceremony June 27. He is a member of Boy Scout Troop 602 of Elizabethtown.
The Eagle is the highest award in Boy Scouting.
Justin is the son of Anthony Butler of Bladenboro and is the grandson of J. V. and Pauline Butler of Dublin.
Justin graduated from West Bladen High School this year and is currently working at White Lake. He plans to enter the United States Navy within the next month.
He joined Troop 602 in October, 1997, and has served as assistant patrol leader, patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader and senior patrol leader. He has been on every camping trip and has participated in every summer camp since joining the troop.
For his Eagle project, he designed and built a sign for the Football and Soccer Complex of the Bladen County Parks and Recreation Department. The project took an excess of 100 hours which included planning, acquiring materials and funds, and constructing and installing the sign. The project involved over 10 Scouts and adults.
