The 22nd Annual Rotary Fair and Parade will be held in Garland Saturday.
A full day of activities will begin at 9:30 a. m. with a memorial service to honor veterans.
The keynote speaker will be Rev. Dewey Ball, pastor of Free Will Baptist Church. The Veteran's Book of Remembrance will be on display.
"I think that it is especially important to pay tribute to those serving our country in light of our current situation," said Garland Rotary President David King.
The parade will begin at 10:30 a. m. It will include floats, beauty queens, clowns, and a large collection of antique cars.
District Governor of Rotary Russ LaBelle and Assistant District Governor Karen Barnhill will appear in the parade, along with the Lakewood High School band, the Ft. Bragg Military Band, and the Sudan Roadsters.
The parade will also include local and surrounding town fire departments and rescue units.
Retired Major Rachel McKoy-Mitchell will serve as the parade's Grand Marshal.
The afternoon will be filled with entertainment, booths of art, crafts and food, and pony rides for children.
Weather permitting, a street dance will be held from 7 till 10 p. m.
"I would encourage anyone who has never been before to come out and see (the Fair and Parade) for themselves," said President King. "It is a great time for people of all ages.
"Months of planning and much dedication by Rotary Club members and town officials have gone into making this a success. I really appreciate everyone's hard work and dedication.
"I invite everyone to come out and held make this the best year yet our Parade and Fair."
