A Bladen County Sheriff's Deputy on his way to a call was involved in a three-car wreck Sunday night.
Chief Deputy Phillip Little of the Bladen County Sheriff's Department said Dep. Jason Larrimore was on his way to assist another deputy when the wreck happened around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of N.C. 41 and N.C. 131.
"Deputy Larrimore was responding to another officer's request for backup," Little said. "It was a situation involving a subject who was possibly armed."
Little said Larrimore was headed south on N.C. 131 with his blue lights and sirens working when he stopped at the stop sign at the intersection and pulled forward.
As he pulled out, Little said, the cruiser was struck in the side by a vehicle heading east on N.C. 41. The east-bound vehicle then struck a pickup on N.C. 131.
Complete details on the wreck, including the names of the victims, were not available Monday, Little said. N.C. Highway Patrol Trooper Mike Kinlaw is investigating the collision.
Kinlaw said the first vehicle contained a driver and three passengers, and the second had a lone occupant, the driver. The names of those people were not immediately available.
All three vehicles, including Larrimore's 2004 Ford patrol car, were demolished.
Charges are pending.
