The Bladen County Commissioners, at their Monday meeting, voted to adopt a revised version of the county's Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan.
The plan was revised to incorporate recommendations from the Mitigation Advisory Committee and North Carolina Emergency Management.
The initial plan had been compiled by Emergency Services Director Mitchell Byrd in response to a requirement from the state and federal governments. The county contracted with Holland Consulting Planners, Inc., to revise the plan to incorporate the recommended changes.
In presenting the plan to the commissioners, Candee Bryan of Holland Consulting said the revised plan had been coordinated with the municipalities in the county and that they had stated they would take action to approve the plan at their December meetings.
Local Government Hazard Mitigation Plans were mandated by the Federal Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 and North Carolina General Statute 166A6(a).
