A 70 year-old woman who owns a home in a notorious drug neighborhood was arrested Thursday.

Bladen County Sheriff Steve Bunn said Love Anna Kay Shipman, 70, of 285 Sandpit Rd., Elizabethtown, was charged with maintaining a dwelling for the distribution of controlled substances. She was released on bond.

Deputies arrested Shipman around 3 p.m. Thursday. They also captured Maurice Rico Smith of the same address.

Smith was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, and maintaining a dwelling and a vehicle for the distribution of controlled substances.

The arrests came from an undercover operation and neighborhood complaints, Bunn said. The investigation resulted from a raid on two Sandpit Road homes in August.
