East Bladen scored one run in the third inning, and an insurance run in the fourth to give East Bladen senior right-hander Erin Woodruff all the runs she needed to hold off a seventh-inning West Bladen rally.

With two out in the third inning, East Bladen’s Jatoya Kemp beat out a bunt down the first base line.

After stealing second, Rachel Evans singled to left field. When the ball was misplayed, Kemp raced home for the game’s first run.

In the fourth inning, a walk, and two West Bladen errors led to the second run.

Down to their last three outs, West Bladen’s Hillary Jones led off the seventh inning with a swinging bunt single.

Brittany Langdon followed with a single through second base. After a fielder’s choice and a strikeout, senior Senora Graham hit a ball to third and her speed forced a rushed overthrown to first, allowing Langdon to score.

The Lady Eagles’ right fielder Heather Hartley scooped the over thrown ball up and made a good throw to home to cut down the tying run at the plate.

Woodruff went the distance on the mound for the Lady Eagles. She gave up two hits, and struck out 11.

West Bladen sophomore Hillary Jones gave up three hits and walked one while striking out three.
