The Classic Cruisers Car Club will hold their 10th annual car show on Saturday in the pecan grove in front of San Jose restaurant. This year’s show is anticipated to draw about 300 entries of cars and trucks and there is an addition to this year’s entry list — motorcycles.
“We’ve added a category for motorcycles and we have no idea how many of those will show up,” said Roger Teachey, the club’s secretary. “There are a lot of motorcycles around.”
Registration for the show is from 8 a.m. until noon and judging will take place from noon until 3 p.m. with the trophies being awarded at 3 p.m.
The show will have all ages of cars form the 1900s through the current model year vehicles. Cars from the 1986 era to the present are judged on a different set of criteria than the cars constructed prior to 1986, said Teachey.
The show began in 1999 as an idea among friends and classic car enthusiasts to create a way to raise funds to help the local charities, said Teachey. The show gets larger each year and has drawn entries from as far away as Tennessee; South Carolina; and Virginia, according to Teachey.
“We’ve given about $40,000 in donations to different charities here over the years,” said Teachey. “We are proud of what we have done.”
Trophies will be awarded in categories including a series of “Best of” trophies for both motorcycles and cars and a “best of show” trophy that will include a six-foot tall trophy and $500 cash to the best of show winner in the motorcycle and car division.
“If we have good weather, it will be a good turn out,” said Teachey.
