WHITE LAKE — Alcohol was a factor in the drowning of a White Oak man on Sunday, Bladen County Coroner Hubert Kinlaw said.
Feliciano Gonzalez-Gonzalez, aka Axel, 52, of River Road, drowned in 51-inches of water at the end of the pier at Goldston’s, Kinlaw said.
“X-rays determined his neck was broken,” he added.
According to reports, Gonzalez was at the lake with a friend on the day of the incident. Gonzalez dived into the water after his friend and never came to the surface.
The friend found him on the bottom of the water, Kinlaw said.
White Lake Police Department and Bladen County EMS responded. Gonzalez was later pronounced dead at Bladen County Hospital.
The case was investigated by Kinlaw and Officer Terry Fell of the White Lake Police Department.
