ELIZABETHTOWN — The Bladen Journal’s annual Empty Stocking Fund drive is under way. The funds donated will be used to help needy families in Bladen County.
The Carvers Creek United Methodist Women contributed $25 and Walter and Ceceile Bryan have made a donation of $100. The new donations received bring the total to date to $1,135.
The Bladen County Department of Social Services is assisting the Bladen Journal again this year and will be accepting applications for the Empty Stocking Fund on Thursday, Nov. 13 and Friday Nov. 14, and again on Thursday, Nov. 20 and Friday, Nov. 21. Hours all four days will be from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Each year, the Bladen Journal Empty Stocking Fund is funded through contributions from caring individuals, businesses, civic groups, churches and other organizations to assist needy families throughout Bladen County.
Donations may be dropped off at the Bladen Journal office located at 138 West Broad St. or mail your donation to Bladen Journal Empty Stocking Fund, P. O. Box 70, Elizabethtown, 28337. Donations will be accepted through 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5.
