ELIZABETHTOWN — The Bladen Journal’s annual Empty Stocking Fund drive is under way. The funds donated will be used to help needy families in Bladen County.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Summerlin recently donated $100; Steve Love donated $500; Thomas Clem Sr. donated $25; and Ronald and Rita Richardson donated $100.

The newly-received donations received bring the total to date to $1,960.

The Bladen County Department of Social Services is assisting the Bladen Journal again this year and will be accepting applications for the Empty Stocking Fund on Friday, Nov. 21. Hours will be from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Each year, the Bladen Journal Empty Stocking Fund is funded through contributions from caring individuals, businesses, civic groups, churches and other organizations to assist needy families throughout Bladen County.

Donations may be dropped off at the Bladen Journal office located at 138 West Broad St. or mail your donation to Bladen Journal Empty Stocking Fund, P. O. Box 70, Elizabethtown, 28337. Donations will be accepted through 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5.
