— The deadline for entries for the annual Blueberry Cooking Contest held during the Ammon Blueberry Festival is at 5 p.m., Tuesday, May 28. — Bladen County Farm Bureau is now accepting applications for their scholarships. Our Cecil McClure Memorial Scholarship provides $500.00 per year and the R. Flake Shaw Scholarship provides $3,750.00 per year. Applicants may apply through Bladen County Farm Bureau, by contacting Tammy Guyton at 910-645-2042. Eligibility requirements for both scholarships will be based on (1) financial need; (2) satisfactory scholastic record; (3) leadership potential; and (4) good character. Applicants must enroll in college in agriculture or in an agriculturally related field. Community colleges do qualify for the R. Flake Shaw Scholarship. Applications must be completed and returned by March 15 to the Bladen County Farm Bureau Office.
