A graveside service was held Sunday, March 15, at 2 p.m. at Edgecombe Memorial Park with the Rev. Noah Howard officiating.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd H. and Charlotte Winn Claiborne and sisters, Kathleen C. Rook, Murial C. Burnette and Rosser Lee Claiborne.
He is survived by his wife, Mary D. Claiborne; son, Robert M. Claiborne Jr. and wife, Christiana of Elizabethtown; grandchildren, Robert Johnathan, Micalea, Skylar and Jeffrey Claiborne; sisters, Vivian C. Clements of Emporia, Va., Juliette C. Howard of Tarboro; brothers, Lloyd H. Claiborne, Gaston, Thomas W. Claiborne of Roanoke Rapids; special nephew, James A. Rook , Jackson.
The family received friends at Carlisle Funeral Home, Tarboro, Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. and other times at the home of Juliette C. Howard, Tarboro.
