TAR HEEL — Laura Lynn Garner, 33, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at her home. She was a 1993 graduate of Tar Heel High School. She attended Campbell University and earned a Registered Nursing Degree from Southeastern Community College. In recent years she was employed as a National Certified Paramedic.

She was a member of Beth Car Presbyterian Church, where she served as an elder. Laura was a person of many interests and skills, including music, quilting and cooking. She brought to her profession a compassionate nature and extensive knowledge of health care. Her community work included volunteering for the Tar Heel Fire Department and Tar Heel Rescue Squad.  Her special passion was serving as caregiver to her family and friends.

She is survived by loving parents, Robert and Rita "Molly" Garner; loving sister, Liza Garner; beloved friends, Jolynn Smith and Jim Oles; loving uncle and aunt, Jimmy and Mona Chinnis; and uncle, Billy Garner and wife, Diane.

Visitation will be held at Beth Car Presbyterian Church from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 18. 

Funeral services will be held at Beth Car Presbyterian Church on Sunday, April 19, at 4 p.m. with Pastors May Craven, Annelle Waldron, and Cameron McGill officiating. 

Burial will follow the service in Allen Family Cemetery located off Hwy 87 South of Tar Heel.
