DUBLIN — Bladen Community College’s Agribusiness Technology program will offer two courses for the summer that can benefit those in commercial agriculture and hobbyists as well.
The two courses will begin on May 20 and end on July 29.
One course is entitled Soil Science and Practical Horticulture. It will show home gardeners and landscapers how to be more successful in their endeavors.
Among the topics that will be addressed are producing home-grown vegetables, lush houseplants, and beautiful landscapes, as well as creating herb gardens, grafting and pruning fruit trees, analyzing soil characteristics, understanding climate and plant nutrition, and exploring irrigation techniques.
The class will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3 to 5:30
p.m.
The second course is entitled Animal Health Management. It is designed to improve understanding of and promoting the well-being of pets. It will help students learn how to prolong the life expectation of their pets while reducing veterinarian expenses. It will also help pet owners learn techniques to reduce stress and depression in their pets by promoting good exercise techniques and social interaction.
This class is being offered on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30
to 8:40 p.m.
