ELIZABETHTOWN — The Elizabethtown-White Area Lake Chamber of Commerce has announced that Dawn Maynard will serve as the chamber’s next executive director. Lisa Fisher, who was serving as the executive director, resigned to pursue her teaching certification, according to Maynard.
“I’m really excited about the position,” said Maynard on Friday.
She added the position will still be part-time and the chamber will now only have one position instead of two. Maynard was serving as the tourism specialist before being tabbed for this position.
The tourism specialist position was originally funded through a STEP grant.
“We had some major pay cuts last year in an attempt to keep the two positions,” said Maynard.
After Fisher’s resignation, the board went over the budget and asked Maynard to take on the role of executive director without a tourism specialist.
“Basically, I’ll be responsible for the daily operations of the office as well as the same things I did as tourism specialist,” said Maynard. “We’re not going to extend the office hours right now although there may be some flexibility with hours somewhere in the future.”
Maynard said a few of her duties will include recruiting new members to the chamber; updating the chamber’s Web site; mailing brochures and visitor’s guides and ensuring promotional materials are available at area rest stops and visitor’s centers; seeking guest speakers for the chamber’s monthly luncheons; advertising the chambers events; and organizing the chamber’s many events.
Maynard said her vision for the chamber going forward is to serve the community and its citizens by promoting tourism and promoting the community and area businesses as a whole.
She also added there are volunteer opportunities available for the chamber’s various events. Anyone interested in volunteering to help with an event can do so by calling the chamber at 862-4368.
