— February 6, 1953: The ground is broken for the beginning of a new Methodist Church made of Crab Orchard stone in Elizabethtown.

— February 6, 1975: A large advertisement reads, "FEBRUARY ONLY! 9% SIMPLE INTEREST ON NEW CAR LOANS! Waccamaw Bank is doing its part to help get America's economy moving!"

— February 4, 1985: Elizabethtown Police Officer Charles A. Cox is charged with breaking and entering at Kinlaw Furniture store. Cox got away with two TV sets and a video cassette recorder valued at nearly $1,100.

— February 4, 2000: A new fitness center scheduled to be constructed on Elizabethtown's Broad Street has underestimated the costs of the new facility. Although bidders are adjusting contract plans, the project is still expected to cost $250,000 more than the $1.2 million set aside in the financing package.

— February 4, 2005: Bladen County National Guard members return from Iraq and share accounts with the Bladen Journal. Many return without serious injury. A total of 169 Guardsmen, including 28 scouts from an Ohio unit, were deployed.
