— The annual Black River Bream and Bass Tournament, sponsored by the White Lake Baptist Church Brotherhood, is planned for Saturday, June 15, from 4 until 9 p.m. Start checking boats at 3 p.m. Must be in line with fish by 9 p.m. Entry fee is $20 per person each class, $10 for 10 years or younger. There will be two cash payoffs (50 percent of total entry fees each class). Rules are N.C. fishing regulations. No alcoholic beverages. — The deacons of Sandhill MBC are asking all fathers to be present for a “Father’s Day” celebration during their morning worship service. A special surprise program has been planned.
— Piney Grove AME Zion Church in Clarkton will celebrate Father’s Day during the 11 a.m. worship service. The speaker will be Kenneth Brown. Everyone is invited to attend.
— Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate Men’s Day on Sunday, June 16, at 11 a.m. Min. Ronnie Jackson will deliver the morning message. We will also recognize 2013 graduates during the service. The church is located at 10133 Highway 211 East, Council.

— Sandhill MBC will hold Vacation Bible school beginning on Monday, June 17, and continuing through Friday, June 21. The theme if “Jesus’ Family Reunion.” Classes will be held from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. nightly. Ages infants to adult are welcome. VBS leaders are Brother Ernest Featherson, Sis. Nettie Murphy and Sis. Daisy McKoy.
