June 15

— The annual Black River Bream and Bass Tournament, sponsored by the White Lake Baptist Church Brotherhood, is planned for Saturday, June 15, from 4 until 9 p.m. Start checking boats at 3 p.m. Must be in line with fish by 9 p.m. Entry fee is $20 per person each class, $10 for 10 years or younger. There will be two cash payoffs (50 percent of total entry fees each class). Rules are N.C. fishing regulations. No alcoholic beverages. — Shining Light Ministries will be having a one-day Vacation Bible School on Saturday, June 15, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Everyone is invited to this “Hay Day” celebration where we will grow in friendship with Jesus. — The First Baptist Church of Elizabethtown will have a Fun Day and Vacation Bible School pre-registration from 10 a.m. until noon on Saturday, June 15.

June 16

— The deacons of Sandhill MBC are asking all fathers to be present for a “Father’s Day” celebration during their morning worship service. A special surprise program has been planned.

— Piney Grove AME Zion Church in Clarkton will celebrate Father’s Day during the 11 a.m. worship service. The speaker will be Kenneth Brown. Everyone is invited to attend.

— Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate Men’s Day on Sunday, June 16, at 11 a.m. Min. Ronnie Jackson will deliver the morning message. We will also recognize 2013 graduates during the service. The church is located at 10133 Highway 211 East, Council.

June 17

— Sandhill MBC will hold Vacation Bible school beginning on Monday, June 17, and continuing through Friday, June 21. The theme if “Jesus’ Family Reunion.” Classes will be held from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. nightly. Ages infants to adult are welcome. VBS leaders are Brother Ernest Featherson, Sis. Nettie Murphy and Sis. Daisy McKoy.

— The First Baptist Church of Elizabethtown will hold Vacation Bible School, beginning Monday, June 17, and continuing through Friday, June 21. Classes meet from 6 until 8 p.m. nightly for ages pre-school through adult.

— Hickory Grove Baptist Church of Bladenboro will hold Vacation Bible school beginning Monday, June 17, and continuing through Friday, June 21. The theme will be Colossal Coaster World. Children are admitted free and classes will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. nightly. Teens can experience Thrill Seekers with Bible study and activities just for them. This will be a week of fun, food and exciting learning opportunities that is free of charge and open to everyone. — The First Missionary Baptist church located at 501 Martin Street, Elizabethtown, will have Vacation Bible School beginning Monday, June 17, and continuing through Friday, June 21. Classes will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. nightly. The theme is “God’s Backyard Bible Camp Under the Stars.” Pre-registration and Fun Day will take place on Saturday, June 15, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

June 22

— There will be a Men’s Conference on Saturday, June 22, at 10 a.m. at Kitchen Branch Missionary Baptist Church.

June 23

— There will be an Ordination Service at First Missionary Baptist Church on Sunday, June 23, at 3:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be Pastor Harry Ghee.

June 24

— Vacation Bible School will be held at Mt. Olive AME Zion Church beginning Monday, June 24, and continuing through Friday, June 28. Classes will be held from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. nightly. Classes will be available for pre-k to adult. The theme will be “God’s Backyard Bible Camp Under the Sun.” Refreshments will be served each night.

— Vacation Bible School will be held at First Baptist Church, 521 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Bladenboro, beginning Monday, June 24, and continuing through Friday, June 28. Classes will be conducted for pre-school, primary, juniors, teenagers and adults from 6 until 8 p.m. nightly. Everyone is invited to attend.

— The Hammond Creek Union will be held at Kitchen Branch Missionary Baptist Church on Friday, June 28, at 6:30 p.m.

June 29

— The Hammond Creek Union will continue at Kitchen Branch Missionary Baptist Church on Saturday, June 29, at 9:45 a.m.

June 30

— Trinity United Methodist Church located at 16550 Hwy. 53 East, Kelly, will celebrate homecoming on Sunday, June 30. Sunday school will begin at 10 a.m. A message in song will be presented at 10:30 a.m. by The Promise. A message in word will be presented by the Rev. Francis Daniel at 11:30 a.m. A covered dish meal will be served immediately following the worship service. Everyone is invited to bring a covered dish and enjoy a day of praise and worship. — Women of Excellence present the fifth annual Women’s Conference to be held Friday, June 21, beginnign at 6 p.m. and Saturday, June 22, beginnign at 8 a.m. at Greater Chrysolite AME Zion Church located 1307 Meadow Road, Lumberton. The conference is sponsored by the Clarkton District. There will be a breakfast and Agape luncheon. Conference emphasis will be on Praise, prayer and power.
