ELIZABETHTOWN — One hundred minutes couldn’t decide things on Thursday.

Coach Jay Raynor’s Eagles met every challenge thrown at them by West Brunswick High and earned a 0-0 draw against their Waccamaw Conference opponent.

The tie gives East Bladen an 8-8-4 overall record and finishes the Waccamaw Conference season at 5-5-2. That earns the Eagles the No. 3 seed out of the Class 2-A portion of the conference.

In a match that featured the usual ebb and flow of offensive opportunities thwarted at every turn by solid defense, the Eagles and Trojans could not crack the scoring column.

West Brunswick won the shots-on-goal tally by a slim 10-9 margin.

After playing three games in four days, the Eagles will get some time to catch their breath before opening the state playoffs.

— In Dublin on Thursday, the Knights of West Bladen completed their season on the pitch with a 10-0 loss to Waccamaw Conference foe South Brunswick High.

The match was called at halftime because of the 10-goal rule.

It was the 15th straight loss for West Bladen after the Knights had won the first three matches of the season. It also marked the fifth time in the final six matches that West Bladen was shut out.

The Cougars scored most of their goals in bunches.

After taking a 1-0 lead at the 9-minute mark, South Brunswick scored twice within 2 minutes between the 15- and 17-minute mark. After a 4-minute drought, the Cougars found the back of the net four times within 2 minutes for a 7-0 lead.

About 8 minutes later, South Brunswick scored a trio of goals within 6 minutes to ice the match.

West Bladen finishes the season 3-15 overall and 0-12 in the conference.
