ELIZABETHTOWN — Retired School Personnel of Bladen County met recently at Front Porch Restaurant in Elizabethtown. Welcoming and calling the members to order was President Katherine Inscoe Taylor. Jan Lennon sang the invocation.

The speaker for the morning was Antonia Beatty, director of Bladen County Federal Programs. She stated that laptops are being issued to all high school students who will be free to take them home to be used by families. A grant program for language arts and math is working in the middle grades. In the elementary schools a time of change, initiative and support is in effect with the professional learning community. Beatty answered questions following her presentation.

Treasurer Lynne Rozier distributed copies of her report. Robah Britt accepted the position of the community participation project which will provide school supplies to one school in the county. Suzette Brooks was chairman last year and the school chosen by drawing was Elizabethtown Middle School. Ernest Bacote was asked to be in charge of the half-and-half this year.

Taylor thanked each member for their attendance and asked them to bring one member with them next time. She adjourned the meeting.
