Special Museum storytime: Children’s author to speak

WHITEVILLE —- The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences at Whiteville presents a special 2nd Saturday Storytime program, featuring children’s author W. Curt Vincent on Saturday, Nov. 14, at 10 a.m.

Vincent, an award winning journalist, will be reading his children’s book, “The Luckiest Leaf.” He is the general manager and editor of the Bladen Journal, with more than 30 years experience in the newspaper industry.

Every fall, one of the special activities for Vincent and his granddaughter Kaylee would be raking leaves into a big pile and jumping in. One of the trees was a large Oak which seemed to drop an endless supply of leaves to be raked. During one of those special times, Kaylee commented how they should write a story about the leaves and before they knew it they had created a story about Larry the Leaf, soon becoming Vincent’s first children’s book.

“The Luckiest Leaf” is a delightful book with a great message that young children can easily relate to. Vincent will be signing copies of “The Luckiest Leaf” and will have copies available for purchase.

Story time is recommended for children in preschool to kindergarten but all ages are welcome. No reservations required except for groups larger than 10.

Admission is Free, but donations are greatly appreciated. Please contact the museum at 910-914-4185 or Whiteville@naturalsciences.org for more information.
