CLARKTON — The fifth annual God’s Bounty meal, hosted by Clarkton United Methodist Church, was held on Thanksgiving Day.

The meal is a free turkey dinner to anyone that is hungry. Meals are served or delivered starting about 11 a.m and continuing through about 2 p.m., or until they run out.

More than 130 meals were served this year.

Supplies were provided by Bluefield United Methodist Church and Clarkton First Baptist Church. D.G. Melvin and Billy Piland of Lake Home Catering cooked the turkey with assistance from Jerome Myers of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Adam Marlowe of Clarkton First Baptist Church and Shannon Pate from Windsor United Methodist Church.

A number of community members also provided generous contributions.

Said one Clarkton United Methodist member, “It’s not Thanksgiving without God’s Bounty.”
