Two athletes who were selected conference player of the year in their respective sports will represent East Bladen High School in the N.C. Coaches Association East-West All-Star games next week.

Three Bladen teams were eliminated from state tournaments Monday, leaving the Elizabethtown Majors team the lone squad remaining.

SHALLOTTE – Memphis Smith had two hits and drove in a run and Colton Thompson drove home two runs Sunday afternoon as Bladen County defeated Town Creek 6-3 in an elimination game of the Diamond Youth Baseball AAA state tournament.

LUMBERTON – Eva Dove pitched a no-hitter and Sully Peterson connected for a first-inning home run Saturday as Bladen County defeated Moore County 1-0 in the opening round of the Diamond Youth Softball Angels state tournament at Dr. Raymond B. Pennington Athletic Complex.

ELIZABETHTOWN — Football instruction from professional players, water slides on a hot Saturday afternoon, uplifting music along with ice cream, lemonade and plenty of other goodies.

Nicknames help identify a school or organization.

Vineyard Golf at White Lake has scheduled its club championship Aug. 2-3. Entry fee is $100 per player.
