CLARKTON — On Dec. 2, the Clarkton Community gathered in Butler Park to kick off the Christmas season with an annual Christmas tree lighting event, commemoration of the memorial brick project and a special tribute to veterans.
Friends and supporters of this special event enjoyed activities including the following; a warm welcome and acknowledgement of supporters by members of the Clarkton Beautification Committee, the official first viewing of the memorial bricks laid in Butler Park, a tribute to veterans with the song “God Bless America,” a soldier’s prayer and poem, the lighting of the tree, Christmas carol sing-alongs and delicious refreshments.
Later, during the evening, a surprise visit was made by Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus, outfitted in their full Christmas regalia and arriving in a bright red golf cart. Their sleigh was getting a tune up and all the reindeer were resting prior to their world-wide travel on Christmas Eve.
We thank all of the Clarkton Beautification Committee supporters residing within the extended Clarkton community as well as those folks who live in other states. You are to be commended for sharing our vision and aspiring for a “new and improved” Clarkton.
Also, we wish you all a wonderful Christmas season filled with joy, peace and love. You are most cordially invited to visit and “like” our Facebook page to see future community events sponsored by the committee.
