ELIZABETHTOWN — Bladen We Care has announced the dates for its two major fundraising efforts for 2018.

“Our support for individual grants is never-ending and helps us fill a need for those unable to support their health costs,” said Mac Campbell.

The 29th annual Bladen We Care Dance will be held Friday, April 20, from 7 to 10 p.m. Set for The Venue at White Lake and presented by Smithfield, the casual, island-attire event will feature Bladen County’s Blackwater Rhythm & Blues Band. Hors d’oeuvre will be served.

Tickets are $50 each and can be obtained by calling Campbell at 910-874-4001, Wesley at 910-874-2008, or Kallee at 910-862-8423, Ext. 250.

Taking place Thursday, April 26, will be the 29th annual Byron H. Gooden Memorial Golf Tournament at Vineyard Golf at White Lake. The four-man captain’s choice event will have shotgun starts at 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Participants can bring their own teams or be assigned.

The entry fee is a tax-deductible $500 per team or $125 per person, with checks made payable to Bladen We Care. Price includes lunch, and merchandise prizes will be awarded to winners.

Participation is limited to the first 200 paid entries.

Entry forms can be obtained by calling Campbell at 910-862-0779, Wesley Campbell at 910-874-2008, or Renee Horton at 910-874-4004, or by emailing bladenwecare@campbelloil.net. Entry forms may be faxed to 910-862-5531.

Sponsors are still being sought for the tournament. Par sponsors ($150), Birdie sponsors ($250) and Eagle sponsors ($350) will receive program recognition. Bronze ($500 and up to two players), Silver ($1,000 and up to three players), Gold ($2,500 and up to four players), and Platinum ($5,000 and up to six players) sponsors will receive special recognition on the program. Presenting sponsors ($10,000 and up to eight players) will receive recognition as a tournament sponsor.

Money raised from the duo of efforts will be used to help local organizations.

“Support for Bladen Crisis, Bladen Baptists, Carolina Crossroads, and our nursing scholarships at Bladen Community College are making a difference in our community,” remarked Campbell. “It is our supporters and friends that make all this possible.”

The rain date for the golf tournament is May 3.

“We thank everyone for their many years of support and look forward to fun and fellowship again this year at these events,” said Campbell.
