ELIZABETHTOWN — In true George Jefferson fashion, Elizabethtown Florist is movin’ on up — the street, that is.

“This move proves to be yet another step up in the long history of the business,” said Elizabethtown Florist owner Ruth Haskins. “We’re hoping customers will find the parking better and that we’ll be seen more.”

Since its opening nearly 40 years ago, Elizabethtown Florist has thrived in two downtown locations but will be making the move to a stand-alone structure last occupied by Crow’s Nest. The last day at its downtown site will be June 28.

A different location will not be the only modification seen in the Elizabethtown icon, however.

“We’ve been through a lot of changes in the last five years,” said Haksins. “Elizabethtown Florist’s rich history in Bladen County has kept it a beacon and held it strong through the changing times.”

“Sparked by the opportunity to bring back a bit of the charm to the customer’s experience,” Elizabethtown Florist is launching a new brand. While continuing to serve Bladen County with fresh floral arrangements for birthdays, anniversaries, funerals, and hospitalizations or sickness, as well as continuing to provide custom permanent botanicals and seasonal work, the business is expanding to include Posh Posy.

“Posh Posy is an on-trend event design studio that will be serving North Carolina, South Carolina, and southeast Virginia,” Haskins stated.

Specializing in corporate and special events, private dinner parties, and weddings, the new venture will allow customers to work with an array of other industry professionals and unique artisans to develop a cohesive design plan tailored to the unique needs and desires of each customer.

“The client will be given the full treatment, seeing a mock table setting or backdrop design before making the final approval,” Haskins explained. “It will be an experience like none other, with charm, style, and a touch of the south.”

After closing June 28, Elizabethtown Florist, as well as Posh Posy, will open at their new location on July 2. The businesses will be located at 408 W. Broad Street in Elizabethtown.
