— The National Guard Armory in Elizabethtown will host a Stand Down event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. that will feature guest speaker Sgt. Maj. (retired) Paul A. Berry. Open to all veterans and the general public. There will be medical and dental screenings, homeless prevention assistance, veterans benefits assistance, employment and job counseling, legal services assistance, chaplain services and much more. — The second of the Sunset Jams Concert Series at Goldston’s Beach in White Lake will be held 6 to 9 p.m. with Big Time.
— The Bladen County Cooperative Extension Office, located at 450 Smith Circle Drive in Elizabethtown, will host an “All About Squash) program from 6 p.m. until all the food is gone. Join in to learn about the history and nutritional benefits of squash. We will also explore a variety of ways to incorporate squash into your meals. Come prepared — taste testing included. Register by July 20. There is no cost. — The second event in the Summer Sounds Concert Series will take place at the Cape Fear Farmers Market in downtown Elizabethtown. Featuring Pizazz, the concert will be held from 6-9 p.m.
— Legendary Motown Revue will be coming to Elizabethtown again, for the third installment of the Summer Sounds Concert Series. The group will be performing from 6-9 p.m. at the Cape Fear Farmers Market in downtown Elizabethtown.
— The Bladen County Cooperative Extension Office, located at 450 Smith Circle Drive in Elizabethtown, will host a “Garden Tool Repair Workshop” from 6 to 9 p.m. Learn the proper way to sand, sharpen and clean your garden tools! Bring your spade, hoe and hand clippers. You will do the sharpening, cleaning and repair of your tools. A nice tool kit will be included. Registration is $15 and must be made by Aug. 13.
