McLaughlin wins Bladen Community College writing contest

DUBLIN — A rising West Bladen student took home top prize in a recent writing contest at Bladen Community College.

AbbyMcLaughlin, who just finished her 8th grade year at Bladenboro Middle School, won the county-wide contest open to rising freshmen. Written on “an initiative that will positively impact your community,” McLaughlin’s essay “World Peace” earned the top spot among all the other contestants.

The rising freshman received an engraved plaque and publication of her essay in Bladen Community College’s literary magazine, The Ink Quill.

McLaughlin is the daughter of Adam McLaughlin and April Todd McLaughlin.
