Baldwin Branch Missionary Baptist Church will be celebrating the sixth anniversary of its lead pastoral team in the upcoming months.
“The Boykins have been an enormous blessing to ‘da Branch’,” said church member Arthur Bullock, of Louie and Katrina Boykin.
An annual experience where the pastor is celebrated for all of the spiritual guidance and teaching he provides the congregation, the anniversary celebration also demonstrates care for his ministry and call to lead, according to a press release.
“The New Testament honors vocational ministry as one of God’s highest callings,” Bullock explained, adding Scripture from I Thessalonians 5, which, in part, commands church members to “respect those who work hard among you, who are over you in the Lord, and who admonish you. Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work.”
Bullock added, “Pastors are God’s gifts to His people and are worthy of recognition for their willing and faithful service.”
The celebrations begin Tuesday, July 31, at 7 p.m., when Pastor Gerald Underwood and Andrews Chapel Missionary Baptist Church out of Clinton will be visiting the site. On Wednesday at 7 p.m. will be Pastor Thaddeus Godwin and Lisbon Street Missionary Baptist Church, also of Clinton. They will be followed, on Thursday at 7 p.m., with Pastor David Flowers and Central Missionary Baptist Church of Whiteville.
On Friday, August 4, a banquet will be held at The Venue at Regal Resort in White Lake at 6 p.m. Guest speaker will be North Carolina State Representative Garland Pierce, pastor of Bright Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church in Laurinburg.
Festivities culminate Sunday at 10 a.m. with Bishop R. Fulton Hargrove, of The Cathedral Grace Family Church in Atlantic City, N.J. Lunch will be provided following the service, and special guest speaker Leslie Morrisey and the choir of Greater Six Runs Missionary Baptist Church will close things out at 3:30 p.m.
