• Craft and produce vendors will be set up at the Cape Fear Farmer’s Market in downtown Elizabethtown from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Aug. 18

• A free Back 2 School Bash will take place from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Cape Fear Farmer’s Market in Elizabethtown with haircuts, school supplies, hot dogs, health screenings and a uniform exchange. All events are free to the public. Backpacks will be distributed on a first come, first served basis, and students must be present to receive a backpack.

• Shug Production will be putting on “The Pinstripe Murder,” a crime scene dinner that organizers are hailing as a mystery with plenty of laughs. A $25 ticket includes dinner, dessert and beverage, and prizes will be given to each person at a table who solves the murder. The dinner will take place at Paul R. Brown Leadership Academy on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Elizabethtown at 5 p.m.

• The annual Queen-Scholarship Pageant, sponsored by the Order of Eastern Stars-District 17 in Bladen and Columbus counties, is at 6 p.. in the Paul R. Brown Leadership Academy in Elizabethtown. The public is welcome to attend. More information is available from Norma Martin at 910-625-6997.

Aug. 19

• Hosted by Smithfield Foods, Foundation Bible Church will be giving away 1,100 backpacks, snow cones, and popcorn for students in Bladen County in front of San Jose in Elizabethtown.

Aug. 21

• Healthy Bladen Collaborative will meet at 9 a.m. at the Bladen County Health and Human Services building.

Aug. 23

• NorthTower will be wrapping up the Summer Sounds Concert Series. The group will be performing from 6-9 p.m. at the Cape Fear Farmer’s Market in Elizabethtown.

Aug. 24

• The Bladen County Health Department will host Immunization Awareness Day from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Immunizations offered include hepatitis A and hepatitis B, varicella, tetanus, Tdap, polio, MMR, meningococcal conjugate, HPV, rotavirus and pneumococcal. Insurance cards are required. The public is also invited the meet the Health Department’s new nurse practitioner.

Aug. 25

• Craft and produce vendors will be set up at the Cape Fear Farmer’s Market in downtown Elizabethtown from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

• Pet adoptions, giveaways, and great deals will take place all day at Tractor Supply Company in Elizabethtown.

Aug. 26

• The Grape Escape metric century and half century bike ride will begin and end at Cape Fear Vineyard and Winery in Elizabethtown. Entry fee is $45 (with T-shirt to the first 100 registered) and can be done online at active.com/cycling or on site at 11 a.m. the day of the race. Entry includes rider support at all SAG stops. The ride begins at 1 p.m., and food and entertainment will be available after the event at the Winery. Contact the town of Elizabethtown for additional information at 910-862-2066.

• The Bladen County Training School-Bladen Central High School Alumni Association will hold its annual awards banquet at 7 p.m. at the Paul R. Brown Building in Elizabethtown.
