ELIZABETHTOWN — Farm Bureau is taking student scholarship applications through March 1.
The insurance agency has a number of opportunities.
• Cecil McClure Memorial Scholarship, $500 per year for four years of study at a college, university or community college.
• Farm Bureau Scholarship, $1,500 for one year of study at a college, university or community college.
• R. Flake Shaw Scholarship, $4,000 per year for four years of study at a college or university.
• Two new scholarships are awarded each spring valued at $1,000 per year for two years of study at a community college.
Applications can be made through Bladen County Farm Bureau. The contact person is Tammy Guyton at 910-645-2042.
The requirements include financial need, scholastic records, leadership potential and character, plus a plan to enroll in an agriculturally-related field.
In addition, the Farm Bureau is taking applications through March 30 for the Institute for Future Agricultural Leaders. This will be June 9-14 at N.C. State and N.C. A&T univerisities.
Applicants must be rising high school seniors in the upper one-third of their class, with an interest in agriculture and a desire to further their education in an agriculturally related field.
