ELIZABETHTOWN — The Gamma Xi chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma met Feb. 21 at San Jose restaurant.

The call to order was given by Missy Wells, president. Prior to the meal, Meridith Colville had the invocation.

Teresa Coleman, program chairwoman, introduced her sister, Dr. Harriett Edwards from N.C. State University. She discussed volunteerism. Edwards explained what is needed to gain volunteers and volunteer engagement. She also provided a helpful hints handout for guiding volunteer engagement.

Noel Dennis, secretary, and Denise White, treasurer, presented their reports. Sharon Anderson provided the chapter with the new member nomination, and Connie Inman provided the Scholarship Committee’s recommendations.

Dennis won the half-and-half drawing and Cheryl West was the classroom grant recipient for this month. Door prizes were won by Coleman, Colville, Megan Kirby, Robah Britt, Edwards, Mary Hill and Jeanne Kirby.

Wells thanked the hostesses — Gloria McSwain, Carla Priest, West, Stephanie Hester, Doll Priest and Jennifer Hair — and the meeting was closed with prayer from Wells.
