Museum to show movie “Creature from the Black Lagoon,” special Halloween fun

WHITEVILLE — Calling all ghosts and goblins! Put on your favorite Halloween costume and join the staff and volunteers of the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences at Whiteville on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for a SPOOKtacular good time.

Children of all ages can enjoy not-so-scary storytelling, mad science lab experiments, creepy crafts and ghoulish games.

Showtimes for “Creature from the Black Lagoon” will be 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. This 1954 monster classic is about a strange prehistoric, amphibious beast that lurks in the depths of the Amazonian jungle. Members of a fossil-hunting expedition encounter a “gill man,” believing the creature to be the last of a species of fanged, clawed humanoids, and attempt to capture him and bring him back to civilization for study. This 79-minute film is rated G. Admission is free, but donations are greatly appreciated.
