ELIZABETHTOWN — Halloween … a night of ghosts goblins, witches and whatever the hottest movie and television characters may be. It’s that time of year when parents dress up their wee ones and even their pets for some fun, treats and chicanery.

It all unfolds on Saturday.

Motorists are advised to use caution when they are out and about and watch out for children dressed in their spookiest best out trick-or-treating. Several Bladen County towns have announced trick-or-treating times.

— In Elizabethtown, children 12 and under may trick-or-treat on Saturday between the hours of 5:30 and 9 p.m. Children under the age of 9 years old must be accompanied by an adult. A curfew will be in effect for all youth between the ages of 13 and 18 after 11 p.m.

— In White Lake, children 12 and under may trick-or-treat on Saturday between the hours of 5 and 9 p.m. Children under the age of 9 years old must be accompanied by an adult. A curfew will be in effect for all youth between the ages of 13 and 18 after 11 p.m.

— In Bladenboro, children 12 and under may trick-or-treat on Saturday between the hours of 6 and 8:30 p.m. Children under the age of 9 years old must be accompanied by an adult. A curfew will be in effect for all youth between the ages of 13 and 18 after 11 p.m.

—In Clarkton , children 12 and under may trick-or-treat on Saturday between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m., according to reports.

Other activities taking place in Bladen County to mark Halloween include the Fall Festival from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Jones Lake State Park and the Bladenboro BeastFest in downtown Bladenboro — which will begin with the arrival of the mysterious Bladenboro Beast at 10 a.m.

There is also the BeastFest 5K Fun Run that will take place prior to the Beast Fest at 8:30 a.m. at the Bladenboro Town Hall.

Also, the Clarkton Dixie Youth Baseball is holding its annual Haunted House fundraiser. The Haunted House is located at 3640 Hwy. 211 West, Clarkton. They will be open from Friday, Oct. 23, and Saturday, Oct. 24, and again on Thursday, Oct. 29, through Saturday, Oct. 31. from 7 p.m. until midnight nightly. Cost is $5 for ages 7 years old and older. All proceeds go to support Clarkton Dixie Youth Baseball.

There is also the White Lake Haunted Trail located at the White Lake Water Rescue building on N.C. 53 West, White Lake. The event takes place on Friday Oct. 24, and Saturday, Oct. 25, from 9 p.m. until midnight and again Friday, Oct. 30, and Saturday, Oct. 31, from 8 p.m. until midnight. Cost is $5 per person.
