DUBLIN — Dr. Ryan Anderson was guest speaker at Bladen Community College on Tuesday, offering a presentation on the history of caddies at Pinehurst.

Anderson is a history professor and oversees American Studies at UNC Pembroke. He has written “Frank Merriwell and Fiction of All-American Boyhood: The Progressive Era Creation of the Schoolboy Sports Story” and offered essays, talks, reviews and online writing on advertising, gender, race and kids’ books.

He’s working on a history of the world-famous golf and spa resort’s young African-American caddies.
