ELIZABETHTOWN — An Elizabethtown 42-year-old has been sentenced to more than three years in jail for her part fighting another woman with a razor blade.

Dionne Ward pleaded guilty on Wednesday in Bladen County Superior Court to assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. An investigation concluded she charged at a woman during an argument, cutting her arm and back with a razor.

Ward’s prison sentence is for between three years, two months and four years, 10 months.

The victim was taken to Bladen County Hospital, required stitches, and was released. Ward left the scene but was found later and arrested, a release says.

The investigation said the argument and assault escalated from a dispute about each woman’s child.
