ELIZABETHTOWN — Bladen County has added two more recoveries to its positive cases of coronavirus, and lost a case to reassignment.

The new numbers total 85 recoveries from 104 cases, with two deaths.

The county remains among those with a congregate living setting outbreak. More than 24 hours after requesting more information based on North Carolina Public Records law, including which facility in the county and how many people there are infected, the Bladen County Health Department has not provided the information.

The state Department of Health Human Services has also not responded, more than 24 hours later, with information on virus infections among workers at the Smithfield Foods plant in Tar Heel, and other meat-processing facilities across the state.

North Carolina moved to 921 deaths, up 23 from a day earlier. Fifteen were in congregate living settings. The state counts 29,889 positive cases and 716 hospitalized. There have been 434,921 completed tests.

In the DHHS postal breakdown, the ZIP code for Elizabethtown and White Lake has 23 positive cases. There have been 15 in Clarkton, 13 in Bladenboro, 11 in Tar Heel, nine in White Oak, six in Council, five in East Arcadia, three in Dublin, and one in Kelly. The numbers do not match the state’s county total because not all communities are represented. The deaths were in White Oak and Tar Heel.

In adjacent counties, there have been 69 deaths and 2,411 cases. Cumberland has 23 deaths and 708 cases; Columbus has 27 deaths and 337 cases; Robeson has 14 deaths and 786 cases; Sampson has four deaths and 499 cases; and Pender has one death and 81 cases.

Congregate living settings total 574 deaths and 5,523 positive cases. Outbreaks have been identified at 93 nursing homes, 44 residential care facilities, 19 correctional institutions and seven other facilities. Of those, six are in Robeson, five each in Columbus and Cumberland, and one in Pender.
