ELIZABETHTOWN — Heavyn Smith, a freshman at East Bladen High School, has been nominated for Congress of Future Medical Leaders.
Smith, the daughter of Carla Smith and granddaughter of the Rev. Carl A. and Jewell L. Smith, was chosen based on her academic achievement, leadership potential and determination to serve humanity in the field of medicine. She’ll be a delegate on March 20 and 21.
A release says she will be with students from across the country participating in conversations with distinguished award winners, talking about medical research, what to expect at Ivy League schools, and cutting-edge advances in medicine and medical technology.
The Congress is a part of the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists.
