LUMBERTON (WNCN) – A 3-year-old was killed when he accidentally shot himself Sunday with a gun kept behind the counter of a Lumberton business, police said.
The boy shot himself just before 11 a.m. at the store located at 2205 Martin Luther King Drive, police said.
The victim’s father, Manal Abdelaziz, 56, owns the store where the shooting occurred. He contacted police immediately.
The boy was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators will submit a report to the Robeson County District Attorney’s office for review to determine if charges will be filed.
