Welding students fuse BCC and top honors

DUBLIN — Several students from Bladen Community College traveled to Greensboro for the Skills USA Conference and competitions recently and earned the following the recognitions:

— Darrian Hicks, first-place winner in Job Skills Demonstration

— Jonathan Lashley, first-place winner in Welding Art/Sculpture

— Russell Packer, third-place winner in Welding Art/Sculpture

— Mary Butler, third-place winner in Welding Art/Sculpture (high school)

— Colby Ashe, fifth-place winner in Welding High School

Students competed against other entrants from around the state, and both Hicks and Lashley have earned the right to compete on the national level in June.
