Caring and Sharing receives $1,000 gift from Food Lion

ELIZABETHTOWN — Caring and Sharing, Inc., has received $1,000 from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation just in time to help teed local resieents.

Caring and Sharing will use the gift to purchase food for their food pantry, which provides monthly food bags to needy seniors, disabled veterans and handicap adults, and members of their households, throughout Bladen County. Caring and Sharing also provides emergency food for needy individuals and families.

“On behalf of the Board af Directors, our Advisory Board, volunteers, members and supporters, we are so thankful and appreciative of the generosity of Food Lion for their gift,” said Barbara Campbell, Caring and Sharing executive director. “It will help us continue to have the ability to provide food for those in need.”

The mission of Caring and Sharing is to operate as a food source and nutrition-support provider, to offer life skills development and training, serve as a provider of educational tools and assistance, offer social and charitable services to the community and provide mentoring services to the children, youth and families in the target population that will create lifelong and sustainable generations of prosperous citizens.

Established in 2001, the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation provides financial support for programs and organizations dedicated to feeding the hungry in the communities it serves. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded more than $9 million in grants.
