ELIZABETHTOWN — When Adam Horne broke into his neighbor’s building and stole a motorcycle and generator, he had no idea the items would lead investigators right to him.

According to a release from the Bladen County District Attorney’s Office, reports of break-ins on Greene Industrial Park Road in Elizabethtown in November 2015 led the victim to place a GPS tracker on items still in the building.

Investigators were able to use the trackers to locate the stolen property in a Clarkton residence.

“The investigation revealed that Adam Horne, the victim’s neighbor, stole the items and sold them in Clarkton,” the release stated.

Horne, 32, of Elizabethtown, was arrested and charged with breaking and entering, and obtaining property under false pretense. He plead guilty to the charges on Wednesday and was sentenced to between 19 and 32 months in prison.
