ELIZABETHTOWN — Elizabethtown police officers were sent to Bladen County Hospital on N.C. 701 South with regards to a stabbing on Saturday.
According to Interim Police Chief Kip Hester, the stabbing took place in the area of 1204 Lewis St.
“The victim, Tracy Christopher Custis, was assaulted while attempting to visit with a female at the residence of suspect Cleo Lewis,” Hester said. “Lewis confronted Custis at the residence and an altercation ensued.”
Hester added that Custis was stabbed several times by Lewis before Lewis fled the scene. Custis was transported to Bladen County Hospital by a passerby.
Police managed to capture Lewis and charged him with attempted second-degree murder. He is being held in the Bladen County Jail on a $75,000 secured bond.
