WILMINGTON — A Wilmington man is in police custody after he threatened to kill people with a loaded long gun Monday night.

Police responded to the 500 block of Maides Avenue around 8:50 p.m. and found 39-year-old Ernest Fleming walking down the street with a loaded gun, talking to himself, and threatening to kill someone.

After police gave Fleming several commands, he failed to comply. Officers were able to secure Fleming’s gun and take him in to custody.

Fleming is currently at New Hanover Regional Medical Center where he is receiving treatment for non-serious injuries.

The investigation is still on going and no charges have been filed at this time.
