The Bladen 911 center received a call at 3:02 am Thursday morning (February 11, 2016). The call originated from 18 Ruby Kidd Road, off Singletary Mill Pond Road near Bladenboro.

The caller, who identified himself as Kelly Dwayne Hamilton, 44, reported that his friend, Crystal Lynn McLamb, 44, of 651 Belvedere Ave., Tar Heel, NC had accidentally shot herself. Hamilton said the two had been watching a movie and McLamb went to move a weapon that was loaded and lying on a coffee table. He said when she did the gun went off striking her fatally.

Responding officers found McLamb on the couch in the living room. McLamb was pronounced dead at the scene. Bladen County Coroner Hubert Kinlaw requested an autopsy which was performed Friday morning, February 12th at the Chief Medical Examiner’s office in Raleigh.

“After further investigation in this case we have determined the physical evidence at the scene was not consistent with the account given by Mr. Hamilton,” said McVicker. “Based on our investigation we have charged Hamilton with the murder of Ms. McLamb.”
