BLADENBORO — The Gamma Xi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma met on April 19 at Galeed Baptist Church in Bladenboro.

President Missy Wells opened the meeting and welcomed everyone. Connie Kinlaw introduced this year’s scholarship recipient, Mikayla Winebarger of West Bladen High. Bladen County beta Club sponsors were recognized and presented with checks for their respective schools.

Wells then gave the invocation and a delicious meal was served.

After dinner and a time of fellowship, a special Ceremony of Remembrance was held for Rosalie Russ, who passed away on April 9.

An induction ceremony for new members Lynn Brisson and Merideth Colville was conducted and the installation of new officers was held — they are President Missy Wells, First Vice-President Doll Priest, Corresponding Secretary Mary Hill, Treasurer Denise White and Recording Secretary Noel Dennis.

Denise White read and provided copies of the financial report to all members, and Noel Dennis read the minutes from the February meeting.

President Wells thanks the hostesses — Debbie Kinlaw, Gail Marsh, Vicki McLaughlin and Genia Hester — as well as the Scholarship Committee of Gail Marsh, Connie Kinlaw, Teresa Coleman, Debbie Kinlaw and Megan Kirby. She also thanked the Program Committee — Sharon Anderson, Janet Huggins and Cheryl Walters.

The half-and-half drawing was won by Mary Hill and was donated back to the chapter; door prizes were won by Susan Daniel, Peggy Hester, Teresa Coleman and Terri Smith.

The member grant recipient this month was Haley Cheshire, and Peggy Hester was congratulated for being named Bladen County Principal of the Year.

President Wells closed with prayer and the meeting was adjourned.
