DUBLIN — The West Bladen High School land judging team traveled to Columbus County to compete in the Land Judging Contest on Nov. 9 and brought home a first-place award for its senior team.

Team members included Alex Clark, Mackenzie Morris, Sean Nunnery and Ashlea Williams.

The students judged land aspects such as surface layer, subsurface layer, slope, and drainage. They also made recommendations for land treatment, urban uses and special environmental concerns.

Also, the West Bladen High School truck and tractor team competed at the Lake Waccamaw Boys and Girls Home on Nov. 17. The team had to maneuver the trucks and tractors through a course in a safe manner.

The team members were Lucas Williams, Charlie Gooden, Cade Ransom and Colby White. Williams placed third in the competition.
