CHURCH CALENDAR

March 11

— First Baptist Church of Bladenboro, located at 521 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, will host its annual Men’s Day. A breakfast will be offered at 8 a.m. with a message from Brother Clayton Gowens; at 11 a.m. the speaker will be Anthony Hair during the morning worship. The public is invited.

— Whites Creek Missionary Baptist Church, located in the Lisbon Community, will host its annual Birthday Rally at 3:30 p.m. On the program will be the Swans Creek male Chorus, Heavenly Skylights, Totally Committed and many other choirs and soloists. All are welcome.

March 14

— The annual Community Lenten Service will be held noon to 12:30 p.m. at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. David Holloway of Elizabethtown Presbyterian Church.

March 18

— Sandhill Missionary Baptist Church, located at 16920 Twisted Hickory Road in Bladenboro, will host a “Family & Friends Day” starting with the 11 a.m. worship service. The Rev. Ollie Mosby of Greater Robinson Temple in Elizabethtown will conduct the service.

March 19-23

— Oak Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church of Bladenboro will hold its spring revival each night at 7:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Jamie Ward, of Whiteville, and special singing will also take place each night. The church is located at 1423 Oak Grove Church Road in Bladenboro.

March 21

— The annual Community Lenten Service will be held noon to 12:30 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Sheldon Reese, resident of White Lake and member of the Baltimore-Washington United Methodist Conference.

March 25

— Passion Week services will be held at Pierce Chapel AME Zion Church, located at 595 Porterville Road in Clarkton, at 3 p.m. with guest speaker Pastor Frederick Bryant of Welches Creek.

March 26

— Passion Week services will be held at Lovegrove FWB, located at 1763 Millie Christine Road in Whiteville, at 7 p.m. with guest speaker Pastor Johus Freeman of Pierce Chapel.

March 27

— Passion Week services will be held at Christian Plain AME Zion, located at 1960 Jenkins Road in Whiteville, at 7 p.m. with guest speaker Pastor Ronald Brown of Lovegrove.

March 28

— Passion Week services will be held at Sandy Plain MBC, located at 903 Farmers Union Road in Clarkton, at 7 p.m. with guest speaker Pastor Harrison Branch of Rehobeth.

March 29

— Passion Week services will be held at Central PUSA, located at 7280 Hallsboro Road North in Clarkton, at 7 p.m. with guest speaker Pastor Alphonse Turner of Sandy Plain.

April 1

— EASTER

— A Community Early Rise Easter worship service will be held at Old Trinity Church on East Broad Street in Elizabethtown at 7 a.m. This is open to all.

— Tar Heel Baptist Church will celebrate Easter at its two worship services, at 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. A breakfast will be offered at 8:30 a.m. and Sunday School will be held at 9:15 a.m. For information, go to www.TarHeelBaptistChurch.com.

— Passion Week services will be held at Welches Creek MBC, located at 1733 Millie Christine Road in Whiteville, at 7 a.m. with guest speaker Pastor Theresa Page of Central PUSA.

April 7

— Elizabethtown Presbyterian Church will host a barbecue plate fundraiser to benefit East Bladen High School football coach Robby Priest on Saturday, April 7, in the PAC building from 5 to 8 p.m. There will also be a silent auction. Plates will cost $8 each and will include barbecue, baked beans, slaw, rolls and dessert for eat-in or take out. T-shirts with the slogan #RobbyStrong can also be purchased through the Facebook group Fighting with Robby—#RobbyStrong. Priest is currently battling cancer and undergoing chemotherapy treatments. All proceeds from the fundraisers will go to assist Priest and his family with medical expenses.

• LUMBERTON: Kingdom Place Church will have “Race Car Sunday” on Sunday, March 11, for children ages 3 to 12, during the 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. services. Children will be able to sit in the race cars and get their pictures taken. Kingdom Place is located at 2610 E. Fifth St. in Lumberton.
