April 15

— Refuge of Deliverance Ministries, located at 203 Martin Luther King Drive in Elizabethtown, will hold a third Friday night service at 7:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be Bishop Antoine Bellamy Sr. and the congregation from The Life Center Ministries in Tabor City, along with St. Luke Holiness Church in Fayetteville. All are welcome.

April 16

— St. John AME Zion Church will host a breakfast plate sale and silent auction in the cafeteria between 7 a.m. and noon. The cost of plates will be $6.

— Greater Vision Free Will Baptist Church will hold a barbecue plate benefit for missions at Midway Beauty Shop in Bladenboro starting at 11 a.m. until the food is gone. The plates are $7 each and will include barbecue, slaw, baked beans and bread. Delivery is available and donations are welcome.

April 17

— Homecoming services will be held at Lisbon Baptist Church. The worship service will begin at 10:30 a.m. and the guest speaker will be the Rev. Rodney Phillips, professor of Bible Studies at Carolina College of Biblical Studies and a doctoral candidate of Liberty University. A covered-dish luncheon will follow the service. Guests are welcome. LBC is located at 4588 Lisbon Road, Clarkton.

— Family and Friends Day will be observed at Carvers Creek A.M.E. Zion Church located at 210 Carvers Creek Church Road in Council, at 11 a.m. The guest Minister will be Bishop Jameel Bryant from Burlington. The meal will be served following the service. Everyone is invited to attend.

— Colly Chapel Church, located at 8906 N.C. 41 East in White Lake, will host a concert featuring southern gospel music artist Kevin Spencer at 10:45 a.m. For informatoin, call 910-862-1047.

April 23

— The 14th Pastoral Anniversary Pre-Musical Celebration for Pastor Carl A. Smith will be held at 6:30 p.m. at Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Council. Several choirs, groups and soloists will be on the program. Everyone is invited to come out and help us celebrate these festivities with our pastor.

— There will be a Home Missions and Conference Workers Program at St. Luke A.M.E. Zion Church, located at 410 Martin Luther King Drive, Bladenboro, at 4 p.m. Speakers will be Bessie Rothwell from Clarkton District Home Missions President and Sister Patricia Cromartie, Clarkton District Conference Workers President. The special music will the youth choir from Mt. Zion A.M.E. Zion Church of Elizabethtown. Everyone is invited to attend.

April 24

— St. Luke A.M.E. Zion Church, located at 410 Martin Luther King Drive, Bladenboro, will observe their Church Anniversary at 4 p.m. The guest Minister will be Rev. Algernon McKenzie and the guest choir are from Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Whiteville. Everyone is invited to attend.

May 1

— Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Council will host its 14th Pastor’s Anniversary Celebration for the Rev. Carl A. Smith at 11 a.m. with Elder Charles Simpson, choir and congregation of St. James United Holy Church in Council as the guests. The afternoon service will begin at 3:30 p.m. with the Rev. Matthew D. Rouse III, choir and congregation of Piney Grove East Missionary Baptist Church of Marshville as the guests. We are inviting everyone to come out and help us celebrate this special occasion with our pastor.

May 7

— The Carvers Creek Community will celebrate the annual Carvers Creek Community Reunion and May Day Celebration from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Baltimore Center. There will be a parade with parade line-up at 9 a.m. at Figure 9 Road. There will be lots of games, food and other activities for all ages. The highlight of this event will be the wrapping of the May Pole. Please come out and help celebrate this event.

May 13

— Pushing Back the Dark, a county youth event, will be held at Elizabethtown Middle School from 7 p.m. until midnight. The Justin Teseniar Band will be in concert. There will be a guest speaker and food. Everything is free and all youth are invited. Please contact the Bladen Baptist Association at 910-862-3496 for additional information.

May 14

— The Mt. Olive Mass Choir will be sponsoring Joy Night service at Mt. Olive A.M.E. Zion church, Pastor Haywood Oliver at 6 p.m. Several choirs and praise team dancers will be on program. We are inviting everyone to come out and let’s have a joyous time in the Lord. Mt. Olive AME Zion Church is located at 32 Mt. Olive Road in Elizabethtown.

June 18

— Mt. Olive A.M.E. Zion Church will be having a church bazaar starting at 7 a.m. Different items will be available, along with food and bounce houses for the kids. Please stop by at 32 Mt. Olive Church Road in Elizabethtown. The event will be held across from the church.
